Transition to Retail Shows and Small Production 1995-1997

First trunk show in Aspen, CO in 1995.

This show featured both her one of kind pieces, which she had been selling for years to art to wear venues such as Obiko in SF and Suzie Hollingsworth in LA, and the new mid-priced production line.

Chevron Cardigan – 1995

Hand- dyed ikat knit slk in fair-isle with plain knit cotton. Rebekah played with alternative closures for her knit designs, seeking clean minimal lines, influenced, in part, by her contract design work for Margaret O’Leary, Inc.

Triangle vest and scarf – 1997

Dyed knit silk scarf and over-dyed knit cotton vest. Rebekah looked for ways to balance price, ease of wear and uniqueness in her designs. To keep her line affordable for professional women, not just collectors, she began knitting her fair-isle patterns in B&W and over-dyeing the knit pieces in color gradations to achieve her signature look.

Sunset Jacket – 1996

Hand-dyed ikat silk in fair-isle pattern with wool rayon black double knit side panels, stockinette sleeves and lapel and inset i-cord trim with hidden pockets. This tailored piece was the most complex of creations by Rebekah, showcasing her sophistication in both color and machine knitting design.
